KROPOTKIN PETER

Kropotkin Peter

Early in his life he rejected his aristocratic background and stubbornly maintained his confidence in the supreme goodness of human nature and attributed any evidence to the contrary to the insidious influence of state authority and exploitative capitalism. For Kropotkin, any external authority was corrupt by definition and thus he never attempted to describe the organizational principles of an anarchist movement or society, believing that it was up to the oppressed masses to arrange the system under which they lived. In his attempt to imbue the whole of society with ethical principles, Kropotkin did produce many practical plans for the improvement of agricultural and industrial communities. And his biting criticisms of the terrible power of the state to disrupt and destroy what he considered natural communities remain impressive.
